USC working to eliminate penalty problems before Arizona State game

As USC begins preparations for Saturday’s game against Arizona State, the Trojans will focus on eliminating penalties. The Trojans were flagged 14 times for 124 yards in their 35-10 victory over Oregon State. USC is averaging nine penalties a game, which puts the Trojans 115th among 125 major college teams. Among Pac-12 Conference teams, only California, averaging 9.5 penalties, and Oregon State (11.5) have been flagged more. Arizona State went from being one of the most-penalized teams under former Coach Dennis Erickson to one of the least penalized under Todd Graham. The Sun Devils commit 5.5 penalties a game, fewest in the Pac-12.
