Madison Kocian and Kyla Ross are expected to become the first Olympic gold medalists to participate in a college gymnastics meet when No. 4 UCLA opens its gymnastics season against No. 17 Arkansas on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Pauley Pavilion.

Kocian, a freshman from Dallas, helped the United States to a gold medal in the team competition at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and also won silver as an individual in the uneven bars.

Ross, a freshman from Aliso Viejo, helped the U.S. to win team gold at the 2012 Olympics in London.

UCLA is the defending Pac-12 Conference team champion and was the pick to win again this year in a vote of conference coaches.
