Storm brings little snow to Md. before pounding Northeast

The massive storm hammering the Northeast with heavy snow amid almost hurricane-like winds developed too late to leave much of a mark on Maryland. A stretch from Long Island to Boston on Tuesday will begin to dig out from paralyzing snowfalls of up to 2 feet, though conditions were not as bad as feared in New York City and Philadelphia. Air travel across the region came to a standstill ahead of the storm, with nearly 8,000 flights in and out of the region canceled and many not expected to take off until Wednesday.
