Hip hop star Big Sean returns to Drai’s Beachclub & Nightclub on the rooftop of The Cromwell to kick off his Drai’s Live concert series on Friday, Aug. 14. The night promises to bring a full-length concert poolside at the club.
Big Sean’s career skyrocketed since he released his debut album “Finally Famous” four years ago. Already he’s racked up honors such as GQ Magazine’s Hottest Rookie and a BET Award for Best New Artist. Most recently he earned double Grammy nominations for his collaboration with Kanye West for “Mercy” with Pusha T and 2 Chainz.

The 25-year-old, whose real name is Sean Anderson, started rapping at age 12 in his hometown of Detroit. He formed a duo with a friend in high school and won the “Friday Night Cipher” emcee contest at hip-hop radio giant Hot 102.7, giving him a year of on-air rapping live on the station.

That led to a meeting with rapper Kanye West, who helped him get signed with G.O.O.D. Music in late 2007, and then Def Jam in 2008.

His biggest songs include “My Last,” “Memories, Pt. 2” and “Beware” featuring Lil Wayne and Jhene.
