Open Water Swimming: Swimmer Jordan Wilimovsky, photographed under the pier in Santa Monica, will be going to the 2016 Rio Olympics as an Open Water competitor.

Courtney Mathewson will compete on the U.S.A. women's Water Polo team in the 2016 Rio Olympics and is photographed after team practice at the Joint Forces Training Base pool, in Los Alamitos. Mathewson, who was part of the 2012 Olympic team that won the Gold medal, previously won four consecutive NCAA titles while playing at UCLA.

Badminton: Phillip Chew and Jamie Subandhi, photographed at the Orange County Badminton Club in Orange, will compete on the U.S.A. Badminton team in the 2016 Rio Olympics. Chew and Subhandhi are competing in their first Olympics.

Shooting: Kim Rhode, a five-time Olympic medalist in shotgun, will compete on the U.S.A. shooting team in the 2016 Rio Olympics. The Rio games will be her sixth Olympics. Rhode became the first American individual athlete to win a medal in five consecutive Olympic Games in 2012.

Archery: Zach Garrett, photographed at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, will be part of the U.S.A. Archery team at the 2016 Rio Olympics. This is Garrett's first Olympics.

Fencing: All-American foil fencer Alexander Massialas, photographed near Chrissy Field, in San Francisco, will compete on the U.S. Fencing team in the 2016 Rio Olympics. Massialas, who also competed at the 2012 Olympics, took his senior year off at Stanford to train for Rio, earning a silver medal at the 2015 World Fencing Championships.
