Football: Mater Dei takes 7-0 lead

Mater Dei quarterback Matt Barkley faked a handoff, rolled right and found tight end Chris Paliska for a nine-yard touchdown pass to give the Monarchs a 7-0 lead over Orange Lutheran early in the second quarter at Santa Ana Stadium.

Barkley also completed a 45-yard pass to Ario Winston during the drive and has completed four of eight passes overall for 64 yards. He needs 283 yards to surpass Todd Marinovich for the all-time Orange County passing record.
