Even with senior center Renardo Sidney playing fewer than three minutes in the second quarter because of foul trouble, sixth-seeded Fairfax has taken a 36-30 halftime lead over third-seeded Mater Dei tonight in a Southern California Division I regional game at Mater Dei.

The Lions are winning behind the strength of eight three-point baskets, four by Jordan Weathers and three by Donte McFrazier. Weathers has 12 points and McFrazier 11 for Fairfax.

The Wear twins are keeping Mater Dei in the game. David Wear has 11 points and Travis Wear 10 for the Monarchs, who face the possibility of losing two of their final three games after starting the season 30-0 and ranked No. 1 in the country by USA Today.
