Chaparral is clinging to a 13-7 halftime lead over Vista Murrieta on the strength of two touchdown runs by Mitch Glasmann, who has also completed 11 of 16 passes for 107 yards and an interception.

Chaparral appears to be a more balanced team with the running of Glasmann and tailback Jonathan Diaz as opposed to Vista Murrieta, which relies almost exclusively on the feet and arm of quarterback Derrick Brown. Brown has struggled for much of the first half with the exception of a 43-yard touchdown pass to Benjamin Madison.

Brown has completed eight of 16 passes for 123 yards and rushed six times for minus-four yards. The Broncos have only eight carries overall.

The Chaparral fans are enjoying this game so far much more than the Pumas’ 32-13 loss to their Southwestern League rival earlier this season.
