Policeman Shot With Own Gun in Quarrel
An off-duty Los Angeles police officer was shot with his own handgun during an argument with his ex-girlfriend at his North Hollywood apartment early Saturday, authorities said.
Rennie Jones, 28, an officer for three years, suffered a bullet wound in his right thigh about 2 a.m. when he tried to disarm Gwendolyn Balland, 31, who had seized his pistol, police spokeswoman Pam Ogden said.
Jones was taken to Medical Center of North Hollywood. Balland was jailed on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, Ogden said.
