A Westchester High School senior who wants to go to college filed suit in Los Angeles Superior Court to force her father to pay her way. Jennifer Jones, the child of divorced parents, claimed that her father, identified only as Jimmy Jones, stopped paying support when she reached her 18th birthday in January and reneged on a promise to pay college expenses if she got good grades in high school. She said she wants to attend college to study journalism and estimated the cost for four years would be at least $25,000. Attorney Gloria Allred said the case was filed on behalf of the young woman “to attempt to establish that children who wish to finish high school and attend college have a right to financial support from their parents.”
