Six people were killed and a seventh injured Saturday in three Orange County car crashes, one of which littered Santiago Canyon Road with broken bodies and crumpled motorcycles.

Three people died on Santiago Canyon Road, one mile north of Silverado Canyon Road, when a pair of southbound motorcycles lost control and one veered into the northbound lane, colliding with a car.

According to the California Highway Patrol, motorcyclist Craig Henricks, 23, of Anaheim and his passenger, Petra Haberpointner, 21, of Edmonds, Wash., were killed instantly when their motorcycle hit the northbound car.

The car’s driver, Mark S. Abbinante, 21, of Diamond Bar, also died instantly. His passenger, Susan Rummell, 20, of Los Angeles, was taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, where she was in stable condition Saturday night.

The driver of the second motorcycle, Charles B. Lillis, 25, of Anaheim, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drunk driving causing injury, a felony, and was held Saturday night at the Orange County Jail on $10,000 bail. Lillis’ motorcycle went down in the accident, but he wasn’t injured.

Officials said the people on the two motorcycles had been traveling together.

Less than an hour later, a car traveling north at high speed on the Camino Capistrano on-ramp to Interstate 5 hit a stone pillar at the overpass. The driver of the car, who has not been identified by the coroner’s office, died at the scene. His passenger, Jennifer Lynn Franke, 23, of Mission Viejo, died at Mission Community Hospital.

Earlier Saturday, a 24-year-old Anaheim man was killed when his truck failed to make a curve and struck a telephone pole, Anaheim police said.

Terry A. Holden died at the scene near Broadway and Manchester Avenue at 2 a.m., Sgt. Michael Webb said.

Holden, driving a 1976 Chevrolet truck east on Broadway at high speed, left the road and struck the pole, Webb said. He was ejected from the truck after it rolled several times, Webb said.
