Development Approved: About 1,000 homes will be built on farmland under a plan approved by the City Council. Associate City Planner Jeff Davis said a tentative tract map--the only remaining step before the company is cleared to break ground on the property--will be considered by the council at its July 15th meeting. The 98-acre site is bounded by the Santa Ana Freeway, Bryan and Browning avenues and a proposed extension of Jamboree Boulevard. The Irvine Co., which owns the site, hopes to develop an automobile sales complex next to the property.
