For the eighth straight quarter, KIIS-FM (102.7) stands atop the Arbitron Rating Service’s advance reports.

However, the ratings, released Wednesday and covering the spring period of March 28-June 19, indicate a general lessening in the top 10 stations’ audience shares. Only two stations, No. 2 KABC-AM (790) and co-No. 9 KFWB-AM (980), increased their shares of the Los Angeles listenership.

Trend-setter KIIS’ audience share declined from 9.7 in the winter quarter to 9.0 during the spring, and other top 10 fixtures such as KBIG-FM (104.3), KLOS-FM (95.5), KMET-FM (94.7) and KNX-AM (1070) slipped in audience share, although they remained among the leaders.

“Beautiful music” station KJOI-FM (98.7) was the biggest loser of the quarter, dropping from 5.7% and the No. 3 position to 4.1% and No. 4.

The gain of No. 2 KABC--from 5.8% in the fall to 6.3%--closed the gap between it and KIIS.

Competing all-news stations KNX, which lost .2% since the winter reports, and KFWB, which rose the same amount during the period, ended up tied for ninth.

There were no newcomers to the top 10 during the spring quarter.

Each full share point is equal to 1% of the radio listening audience which tuned in for at least five minutes of a given 15-minute ratings period from 6 a.m. to midnight. According to Arbitron, the 10 most-listened-to stations in Los Angeles during the spring (followed by their share of the audience) were:

1--KIIS-FM (102.7) 9.0

2--KABC-AM (790) 6.3

3--KBIG-FM (104.3) 4.4
