In other NBA news:

--Clipper General Manager Carl Scheer said that Indiana is no longer interested in working out a three-team trade that would send Nixon to the Pacers. Indiana and the Clippers also are reportedly interested in disgruntled Philadelphia 76er guard Clint Richardson. But Scheer said that the Clippers are still talking to teams about trades.

“We are trying to get Fred to give us an indication that he willing to come off his $725,000 (per year for four years) figure and start negotiating again,” said Scheer, who has offered Nixon $500,000 a year for three years.

Fred Slaughter, Nixon’s agent, said that an unspecified team is close to tendering an offer sheet to Nixon. “It could happen Wednesday,” Slaughter said.

--The NBA announced fines totaling $5,750 as a result of last Saturday’s bench-clearing fight in an exhibition game between the Lakers and Boston Celtics. Laker Maurice Lucas was fined $1,000 for instigating the fight, and teammates Magic Johnson and Michael Cooper were fined $500 for joining in. Robert Parish of the Celtics was fined $750 for fighting, and Sly Williams was fined $1,000 for leaving the bench to fight and for cursing an official. Celtics Dennis Johnson, Rick Carlisle and Bill Walton were each fined $500 for leaving the bench.

--The Cleveland Cavaliers put forward-center Lonnie Shelton and forward Keith Lee on the National Basketball Assn.’s injured list, thereby ensuring that they will miss at least five games. Shelton has a knee injury, Lee a pulled thigh muscle.

--The Boston Celtics waived journeyman forward David Thirdkill and Carlos Clark, a second-year guard. That means Rick Carlisle earned the last spot on the roster.

--The Phoenix Suns have signed 6-foot-8, 235-pound Georgi Glouchkov of the Bulgarian national team to a two-year guaranteed contract. Glouchkov, however, will not be available for another week to 10 days.

--Forward James Banks and guard Dwight Anderson have been waived by the Indiana Pacers. Anderson, who played college basketball at USC, was a second-round draft pick by Washington in 1982 and played three seasons in the Continental Basketball Assn.

--The Milwaukee Bucks waived 6-11 center Mark McNamara, a free agent.

--The Washington Bullets waived veterans Guy Williams and Tom Sewell, and rookie Tony Costner, and put guard Frank Johnson on injured reserve. Sewell and Williams, both second-year players, played sparingly with the Bullets last season.
