FALL SPORTS ROUNDUP : Carlson Leads Alemany by Notre Dame in Volleyball
Notre Dame fell to Alemany, 15-1, 15-4, 15-5. Alemany improved its record to 8-4 in the San Fernando Valley League volleyball.
The Indians were led by Cindy Carlson, who had two blocks and one kill, and Raquel Rimando, who had two kills, a block and six consecutive serves.
Wendy Maslanka and Imee Macasaet also were key players for Alemany, executing consistent sets and passes.
Notre Dame fell to 2-8 in league and 3-9 overall.
The undefeated North Hollywood soccer team Tuesday beat Taft, 2-0. The win gives North Hollywood a 2-0 overall record, while Taft falls to 0-2.
Francisco Mathew and Danny Spector each scored a goal.
The Chaminade girls volleyball team is still undefeated in the San Fernando Valley League after beating Immaculate Heart, 15-1, 15-8, 15-1. The Eagle’s Daiva Tomkus starred in the 35-minute match with 10 kills, and Kathy Ahl had eight serving aces. Chaminade is now 11-0 in league and 15-1 overall.
The Calabasas girls volleyball team beat Santa Paula 16-4, 5-15, 15-11, 15-12, giving them a 4-1 record in the Frontier League. Lynn Goldstein had 14 kills and Tracy Gonzales had 12 to lead the Calabasas team. Santa Rosa is now 3-3 in league.
Jill Sorgen scored on eight straight points to lead the Lutheran girls volleyball team to a win over California Christian, 15-0, 15-2, 15-5, in a Heritage League match. Mitchio Kobashyi had eight kills and five assists to lead Lutheran. Lutheran is now in second place in league with a 6-2 record, 9-5 overall.
