An Orange resident, identified as Andrew Dominic Macaluso, 35, was taken into custody by officers shortly after the Tustin Avenue branch of Great American Savings was held up for $3,851. Orange Police Sgt. Ed Tunstall said investigators are also looking into Macaluso’s possible involvement in at least one other robbery in the city. Tunstall said a man entered the savings and loan office shortly after 10 a.m., told the teller he had a gun and took the cash before fleeing in a flatbed truck on the Costa Mesa Freeway. The truck was spotted leaving the freeway by a motorcycle officer and was stopped on Katella Avenue. Macaluso was taken into custody without incident, and the money taken in the robbery was recovered, Tunstall said. Macaluso was being held in Orange County Jail on suspicion of armed robbery on $100,000 bail.
