A suspected chicken thief was shot to death in Santa Ana. Police said Salvador S. Tinajero, 38, had roosters believed used in cockfights under each arm and was fleeing from the backyard of a house in the 4700 block of 5th Street when seven men came out of the house and one of them opened fire. Tinajero, wounded in the chest and leg, died at a nearby hospital. Police questioned the men, but made no arrests.
