Injured Jockey Listed in Stable Condition

MELBOURNE, Australia —
Injured jockey Chris Barrett is in stable condition in Alfred Hospital Sunday after suffering a heavy fall at the Caulfield race track last Wednesday.
The 29-year-old rider sustained severe head injuries when he toppled from his mount in a three-horse pileup.
A hospital spokesman said Sunday Barrett had regained consciousness and will not need surgery.
