“Tony Bennett: 16 Most Requested Songs.” Columbia. AAD. Like Sinatra, Bennett has enjoyed both considerable Top 40 pop success and jazz respectability. His warm, convincing vocal style is highlighted by character-rich phrasing so effortless it makes even Sinatra seem unduly mannered at times. The tunes in this 47-minute, CD-only package date back to 1951’s “Because of You” and include “I Left My Heart in San Francisco.” Some of the early arrangements (the tango novelty of “Boulevard of Broken Dreams”) are a joke now, but the more recent songs have a graceful, appealing edge. Sound quality: clean.
