Padres Hit With Hoyt Grievance

NEW YORK —
The major league baseball players’ union has filed a grievance against the Padres, claiming the team violated LaMarr Hoyt’s contract when the pitcher was given his unconditional release Jan. 7, according to a published report.
Barry Rona, head of the owners’ Player Relations Committee, confirmed the grievance in today’s USA Today.
