Santa Ana : Police and Firefighters Will Display Vehicles
It may turn out to be a nifty photo opportunity for families and kids. At the very least, Saturday’s 11th annual Santa Ana Police and Fire departments’ Vehicle Display Show is expected to be educational.
Barney the Talking Police Car and the crime prevention dog McGruff will headline the community affair next Saturday at the Bristol Town and Country Shopping Center at Bristol Street and MacArthur Boulevard in Santa Ana.
Free Junior Fire Marshal helmets, toy police badges and helium balloons will be passed out to children while supplies last during the gathering, scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Parents also can have their children fingerprinted free of charge at one of the show’s booths. Other displays will feature crime prevention literature and information about smoke detectors and other fire safety tips.
Members of the police SWAT team, canine unit and motorcycle brigade will offer demonstrations and the Fire Department will have ladder trucks on display. Paramedics will be offering free blood pressure checks, according to Maureen Thomas, a city spokeswoman.
Radio station KEZY-FM will be broadcasting live from the show, where a drawing will be held for $400 worth of Disneyland tickets.
