Frank Sinatra, Johnny Carson and Jerry Lewis were among mourners at a private Westwood funeral Sunday for jazz drummer Buddy Rich. Carson said Rich “was not afraid of dying, he was afraid of living without his drums.” Mel Torme, a close friend of Rich since childhood, said the drummer was “a true genius.” Rich died at UCLA Medical Center Thursday at age 69 after suffering a seizure.
