Clever Song Will Seek Repeat Win in Premiere ‘Cap
The $100,000 Premiere Handicap, a Grade III race for 3-year-olds and up over 1 1/16 miles on Hollywood Park’s turf course Sunday, has attracted such top horses as 1986 winner Clever Song, to be ridden by Fernando Toro; millionaire Al Mamoon, with Gary Stevens aboard, and Le Belvedere, who will be ridden by Bill Shoemaker.
Today’s feature race is the $75,000-added Senorita Stakes, a mile test on the turf for 3-year-old fillies.
Among the favorites are Sweettuc, to be ridden by Stevens, who will be trying to give trainer Charlie Whittingham his fifth consecutive stakes victory; the Bobby Frankel-trained Solany, to be ridden by Chris McCarron, and Some Sensation, with Laffit Pincay aboard.
