22 More Orange County Students Win National Merit Scholarships

Orange County students received 22 of the 131 National Merit Scholarships awarded in California in the third and final round of announcements for 1987.

Two students at Foothill High School in north Tustin were among the final group of National Merit Scholar winners, bringing the high school’s total for 1987 to nine, more than any other school in the county.

The Illinois-based National Merit Scholarship Corp. annually names the winners of the prestigious scholarships in three rounds of public announcements.

The winners this year were selected from 13,500 finalists. Foothill High had 20 finalists in the competition this year--also more than any other school in Orange County.

The third-round National Merit Scholarship winners from Orange County are:
