‘Ferret Bueller’ Takes Time Off

Share

A furry little friend nicknamed “Ferret Bueller” took several days off from wherever it was supposed to be and spent the time at Sue Hilton’s home in Long Beach and office in Harbor City. Hilton said she found the white, weasel-like creature while jogging near her condominium by Marina Pacifica about two weeks ago. She placed an ad in a local newspaper and called various zoos and agencies trying to find it a home, only to discover that it is illegal to keep ferrets as a pet in California.

“Well, I thought, this is great. I’m trying to help this creature and I could be fined,” Hilton said, adding that she would not have been able to keep the animal anyway. “My roommate screams every time she sees it,” she explained. With help from the Wildlife Waystation in Los Angeles, a home for the stray animal has since been found with a ferret society in Arizona.
