727 Jet Strikes Truck While Taxiing at LAX
An arriving Mexicana Airlines jetliner lost about 7 feet of its right wing tip when it struck a parked cement truck while taxiing to a terminal gate Thursday afternoon, a Los Angeles International Airport official reported.
Operations superintendent Dale Harris said there was no evacuation and no injuries as the Boeing 727, Mexicana’s Flight 940 from Mazatlan with 141 passengers aboard, clipped the truck at a construction area while nearing Terminal 5 on the south side of the airport.
