Tracy Read died of chest and abdominal injuries suffered in an accident during the ARCA Permatex 500 late model stock car race at Alabama International Motor Speedway in Talladega, Ala.
Read, 26, of Charlotte, N.C., crashed when his car spun and hit the infield embankment on the 81st of the 117-lap event.
