Chang, Leach Enter U.S. Open

Michael Chang of Placentia and Rick Leach of Laguna Beach were among eight players to receive wild-card entries Monday in the main draw of the 1987 U.S. Open men’s singles, the United States Tennis Assn. announced.

The U.S. Open is scheduled for Sept. 1-13 at the USTA National Tennis Center in New York.

Chang, 15, earned a wild-card berth on the strength of his victory at the USTA Boys’ 18 National Championship in Kalamazoo, Mich., this summer. Leach played at USC.
