An Off-the-Shoulder Look Shoulders Into Spring Lines

Share

Bare shoulders are a big theme in spring fashion. They show up in sleeveless, off-the-shoulder and halter neckline styles, all of which are fairly traditional.

But there’s another, trendier way to give shoulders a breath of fresh air. It’s sweaters or blouses with necklines so wide that they slide off the tips of the shoulders, looking as if they simply don’t fit.

Marc Jacobs’ summer sweater is a case in point. It has one clasp over the midsection but veers up and out--and off the shoulders, if you want it to.

Carolyne Roehm’s more classic, sleeveless dress is cut so bare that it’s practically a halter style. And Carmelo Pomadoro’s off-the-shoulder peasant blouses are reminders of fashion as it was in the 1950s.

David Cameron’s checkered sundress with straps and Angel Estrada’s strapless floral print sundress are more 1950s fantasy styles, all of which will show up for spring.
