Events in the news this week.
The county’s Local Agency Formation Commission on Wednesday will address what to do with Laguna Niguel’s cityhood proposal, now that a disputed stretch of coastline has been added to the proposed city of Dana Point/Capistrano Beach. Activists from inland Laguna Niguel have vowed to fight in court to protect the community’s historic claim to the one-mile stretch of coast.
LAFCO members will also discuss an incorporation proposal for the city of Saddleback Valley, which would include the communities of El Toro, Lake Forest, Laguna Hills, Aegean Hills and Nellie Gail Ranch.
