Thranhardt Clears 7-11, Equaling World Record, in Indoor Meet at Berlin
Carlo Thranhardt of West Germany set a world indoor record and equaled the world record in the men’s high jump, clearing 7 feet 11 inches during an international meet at Berlin.
Thranhardt, 30, broke the mark of 7-10 3/4, set by Patrik Sjoberg of Sweden on Feb. 1, 1987 at Athens. Sjoberg also holds the outdoor record of 7-11.
Sjoberg was third at Berlin, clearing 7-8. Dietmar Moegenburg of West Germany was second at 7-8 3/4.
