Valley High School Baseball : Sylmar Stops Losing Streak With 21-0 Victory

Share

Sylmar High rebounded from two consecutive losses to rout Grant by the improbable score of 21-0 in an East Valley League game Monday at Grant.

The Spartans, who dropped a pair of league games last week, have faced the prospect of playing the rest of the season without ace left-hander Olonzo Woodfin since he suffered a broken right ankle 2 1/2 weeks ago. Still, Sylmar scored a lopsided win over Grant, which only two years ago was the City Section 4-A champion.

Poly 8, North Hollywood 6--Nick Lymberopoulos led the Parrots to victory in an East Valley League game at North Hollywood.

Lymberopoulos was 3 for 4 with a triple, home run and five RBIs. He hit a two-run home run in the second, a two-run single in the third, and a run-scoring triple in the seventh.

Chatsworth 10, Canoga Park 8--The Chancellors erupted for five runs in the eighth inning, but Chatsworth still had to quell a Canoga Park rally in order to record a 10-8 West Valley League win at Lanark Park.

Reseda 8, El Camino Real 1--Steve Brody scattered two hits and six walks to lead the Regents to a West Valley League victory at Reseda.

Taft 2, Cleveland 1--Dax Tobin singled and came home on an error by Cleveland’s Sean Burwell for the winning run in the fourth inning of the West Valley League game at Taft.

Granada Hills 5, Monroe 0--Senior left fielder Kevin Carmichael tripled home three runs in the first inning, and senior right-handers Jeff Adams (7-1), Eric Harris and Jeremy Leach combined on a three-hitter to lead the first-place Highlanders to a Mid-Valley League win at Granada Hills.
