Occidental Stands 7th in Division III Track
Chris Beard placed second in the hammer throw Friday to help the Occidental College men’s team into seventh place with one day of competition remaining in the NCAA Division III track championships at Carleton College.
Beard’s throw of 186 feet, 8 inches placed him behind only Richard Wright of St. Lawrence (N. Y.), who recorded a mark of 193-8.
The only other Occidental individual to score was Ben White, who finished fifth in the long jump with a leap of 23-10.
The Tigers’ 400-meter relay team finished fifth in 41.76.
