Local News in Brief : Garner Leaves Hospital
Actor James Garner was discharged from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in West Los Angeles Friday, one week after surgery to correct a weakness in the main artery carrying blood to his heart.
“He made a spectacular recovery--we had thought he might be in for two weeks--but today he walked out after just a week,” said hospital spokesman Ron Wise.
The 60-year-old former star of “Maverick” and “The Rockford Files” was scheduled to have the operation three months ago, but doctors decided he first had to undergo quintuple heart bypass surgery.
Garner, who won an Emmy for “Rockford,” recently appeared with Bruce Willis in the film “Sunset.”
