Pittsburgh Steelers founder Art Rooney was buried after a Roman Catholic Mass attended by 1,500 mourners at St. Peter Church in Pittsburgh.
Rooney, 87, died Thursday of complications from a stroke. He was buried in a Catholic cemetery near his North Side home, beside his wife, Kathleen, who died in 1982.
Among those attending the 90-minute service were NFL Commissioner Pete Rozelle; Raider owner Al Davis; Buffalo Bills owner Ralph Wilson; former Steelers Jack Lambert, Mel Blount and Lynn Swann, and Pittsburgh Mayor Sophie Masloff.
