Not Suited for Seniors

Share

The Aug. 17 story on swimsuits (“The Toughest Sell: Woman Hate to Buy Swimsuits, So Firms Try New Tacks”) interested me for the reason that as a senior citizen I have found it difficult to buy a swimsuit to my liking.

The manufacturers are not listening. The swimsuits are designed for the young or the svelte--the bikinis, the high French or hip cuts, the back cut low to the waist. These are ridiculous for us with our bulges and our bellies that come with aging.

We want swimsuits that have a skirt built in front like the old-fashioned maillots. Blousons are good but they usually come with spaghetti straps. The elders are not interested in lying on the sand to get a good tan or to show off figures we’re not proud of. We need exercise!
