Los Angeles Traffic Problems

Share

Finally, two new items for my scrapbook. Your front-page story reporting that only 27% of daily commuters find their drive “extremely” congested was hard to swallow. But when I turned to the Metro section of the same paper and found that a proposed regional smog plan was called “Draconian,” I had to get out the scissors.

I am positive that our future gas-mask generations will find these reports very disturbing. When we allow ourselves to become complacent and apathetic in not facing the realities of our traffic and the accompanying smog problems, we are transferring economic and health burdens to our children and our children’s children.

Let’s swallow the bullet now and face reality. The current state of denial must end.
