Royal 21, Simi Valley 0--Royal (2-5, 1-2) rushed for 253 yards and limited the Pioneers (0-7, 0-4) to 21 yards on the ground to increase its series lead in the cross-town rivalry to 11-8-1.

The Highlanders scored all the points they needed on their first possession, marching 88 yards in 10 plays, capped by a 25-yard touchdown run by sophomore fullback Robbie Smith.

Quarterback Pat Ledesma scored on a 9-yard run in the second quarter and fullback Bill McNamara added a 1-yard touchdown run with 1:36 to play. Jason Jones led all rushers with 73 yards in 5 carries. McNamara added 70 in 12 carries and Smith finished with 63 yards in 7 attempts. Ledesma rushed for 46 yards in 7 carries and threw only 4 passes, completing 1 for 11 yards. Simi Valley quarterback Eric Hale completed 4 of 9 for 75 yards but rushed for minus-16 in 5 carries.
