Irvine Faces Test Tonight in State Volleyball Semifinal
After two relatively worry-free rounds, the Irvine High School girls’ volleyball team figures to be tested in tonight’s semifinal round of the State Division I tournament. Irvine, Southern Section 5-A and defending state champion, plays Central Conference champion Los Altos at 7:30 at Irvine.
Irvine (19-0) has swept through two rounds, defeating Roosevelt, 15-1, 15-6, 15-3, and Bakersfield North, 15-7, 15-11, 15-10, in the quarterfinals.
Los Altos (23-2) had to come from behind in the quarterfinals to defeat Union City Logan, 15-6, 12-15, 9-15, 15-8, 15-10.
In the other Division I semifinal Gahr (19-0), Southern Section 4-A champion, travels north to play SacJoaquin champions Davis (30-1).
