James Worthy, hampered for more than a week by an apparently sprained right ankle, missed the Lakers’ practice Wednesday and had X-rays taken at Centinela Hospital Medical Center.

Results were not immediately released, and Worthy’s status for Saturday night’s game between the Lakers and the Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City is uncertain.

Worthy, the Lakers’ leading scorer with an average of 21.2 points a game, injured the ankle during a practice, then aggravated it against Golden State Nov. 9, but has not missed a game.

“Those two players, Earvin (Johnson) and (Worthy) are irreplaceable, so we’re concerned about him,” Laker Coach Pat Riley said. “But we have to deal with the dings and dents we get during the season.”

Forward Orlando Woolridge, on the injured list since Oct. 17 after having bone chips removed from his right knee, practiced lightly for the first time since the undergoing arthroscopic surgery. Woolridge is believed to be about two weeks away from returning to the lineup.

“I just wanted to see today what I could and couldn’t do,” Woolridge said. “When I tried to turn (on the knee), I could still feel it a little. I haven’t been cleared to go through a full practice yet.”

Reserve center Mark McNamara missed his second straight practice. Riley said McNamara has the flu.
