George Perles, Michigan State football coach, demanded that a fund-raiser buy $2,500 in advertisements on Perles’ television show to keep his seat on the team airplane, according to a published report.
J.D. Anderson, a Grand Ledge, Mich., businessman, made the claim in letters to university officials, the Detroit News reported. Perles told the News that Anderson’s claims were unfounded.
Michigan State spokesman Terry Denbow said the school reviewed Anderson’s allegations in January.
“No violations of university, Big Ten or NCAA rules and regulations were found,” Denbow said. “There couldn’t be any reprimand when there’s no wrongdoing.”
