The San Diego Padres said 70 field-level seats installed at San Diego Jack Murphy Stadium for use by Padres’ executives and their VIP guests will be taken out.
Jerry Kapstein, hired last week to oversee the club’s operations, took the action after learning the plan alienated longtime season ticket-holders whose views would have been obstructed by the new seats. Kapstein is the son-in-law of club owner Joan Kroc.
