Santos Escapes Serious Injury
From Associated Press
NEW YORK —
Jockey Jose Santos fell from his mount during a race Friday at Aqueduct, but was not seriously injured.
Santos fell from Taking A Shot near the finish line in the sixth race. A track spokesman quoted a physician as saying Santos was unconscious briefly after the spill.
The jockey was taken to Long Island Jewish Hospital, but was discharged after tests proved negative, according to Theresa Pando, assistant director of nursing at the facility.
