SHORT TAKES : ‘Jetsons’ Videos to Be Released

Hanna-Barbera Home Video will release six classic episodes of the 1960s cartoon series “The Jetsons” on videocassette June 28, it was announced today. The vintage 30-minute videos, which follow the space-age adventures of George Jetson, his wife Jane, daughter Judy, son Elroy and family dog Astro, will be available in stores with a suggested retail price of $9.95 each.

Release is timed to the premiere of “Jetsons: The Movie,” the new full-length animated feature film, which opens in movie theaters nationwide on July 6.

“The Jetsons” began its TV run in 1962, airing for one year with 24 episodes. In 1985, 41 new shows were created and packaged with the original programs for syndication. Ten more were produced in 1987 for the series’ 25th anniversary.
