A proposed Old Pasadena Summer Festival, to be held all day Aug. 25, was approved in concept Tuesday by the Board of Directors.

City staff members were told to work with festival promoters from the American Cancer Society, the Old Pasadena Business and Professional Assn. and The Sycamores, a residential treatment center in Altadena for abused, abandoned and emotionally disturbed children.

Plans for the festival include closing Colorado Boulevard from Pasadena Avenue to Arroyo Parkway from 7:30 a.m. to midnight. Events would include an “Un-Run,” a fund-raiser in which participants sign up to have Breakfast on the Boulevard instead of running a 10-kilometer race. Also planned are “Dancing on the Boulevard,”’ an art show and other entertainment.
