Bystander Watching Brawl Shot in Leg
Gunshots broke out after a fight in a liquor store parking lot in Southeast San Diego early Saturday, but the only one injured was a bystander, police said.
Erma Gonzales, 25, was in fair condition after a stray bullet struck her in the right thigh while she watched the melee in the parking lot of Mullen’s Market & Liquor store at the corner of 30th Street and Imperial Avenue shortly before 2 a.m, said San Diego Police Sgt. Chuck Peck.
“Apparently Ms. Gonzales had been standing in the parking lot watching a fight between 10 to 15 (men),” said Peck.
“The fight apparently got out of hand and firearms were introduced,” he said, adding that 30 rounds were fired.
