Otay Lakes
A bicyclist found the bodies of three men Thursday in a car that had apparently run off the road and struck a tree a day or two earlier.
While driving west on Otay Lakes Road about half a mile east of Wueste Road in an unincorporated area of the county, the driver apparently lost control on a curve, went down an embankment and hit a tree, the California Highway Patrol said.
The car, a 1990 Honda, was not visible from the road and was not discovered until 5:30 p.m. Thursday by a bicyclist on his way to class at Southwestern College.
The accident probably happened late Tuesday or early Wednesday morning, CHP Officer Paula Jefferson said.
The three men have been identified by the county medical examiner’s office as the driver, Virgilio F. Tordera Jr., 21, of San Diego and passengers Jerry Carilo Peralda, 20, of San Diego and David Lee Wagner, 20, of Spring Valley.
