Alhambra : Psychology School Zoning

Share

Schools may now be located in professional office zones, the City Council decided Monday, acting on a request by a local corporation that wants to rent space to a psychology school.

The council voted unanimously to approve the zone change at the request of Santa Fe International Corp. Schools must be located on sites of at least 30 acres, although the property may also be used for other purposes.

Santa Fe requested the change because it wants to rent 34,000 square feet of its facility on Fremont Avenue to the California School of Professional Psychology, a graduate school located in Los Angeles, City Manager Kevin Murphy said in a report.

In a similar action Monday, the council amended the zoning code to allow dry-cleaning establishments in commercial zones. Because of current technology, Murphy’s report said, dry-cleaning operations are now quieter and smaller.
