ANIMAL KINGDOM : Spider Ladled from House Fire
From Times Wire Services
LONDON —
British firefighters used a soup ladle to rescue a hairy tarantula spider from a blazing house in central England today.
A couple and their three children told firefighters about their treasured pet as they were being led away from their burning home in Dudley to be treated for smoke inhalation.
“Thank goodness it was a bit groggy from the smoke, and they were able to put it in a plastic ice cream container,” a fire brigade spokesman said. “We understand it is now recovering.”
