Crafts Sale to Raise Funds for Town Council
The first Crescenta Valley communitywide event sponsored by the area’s Town Council as a fund-raiser will be held Saturday and Sunday.
About 125 vendors and exhibitors will pay a fee to the council to participate in the Good Time Arts and Crafts Country Jamboree, to be held both days from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Crescenta Valley Oak Park, at Honolulu and Dunsmore avenues, Councilman Rob O’Neil said.
The nine-member advisory council was formed in March, 1989, in a grass-roots effort by residents in the unincorporated areas of La Crescenta and Montrose to gain a greater say in their community.
The council has no direct legislative power but acts as an adviser to County Supervisor Mike Antonovich.
Since its formation, the group has raised money to pay for community mailings and rent a meeting hall through voluntary donations and by sponsoring booths at local events, O’Neil said. Participants hope the jamboree will become the council’s major source of funds, he said.
Entertainment will include a country band, gunfighters, square dancing and a barbershop quartet. A petting zoo, pony rides and other attractions will be included.
Admission is free.
